| Mr. Emerick A.
Knowles specializes in Civil Litigation and has done so for
more than 34 years. Mr. Knowles obtained a Bachelor of Commerce
Degree in 1969 from Sir George Williams University (now Concordia
University) and pursued his legal studies at Gray’s
Inn, London, England. Mr. Knowles was called to the Bar of
England and Wales in June 1974, and to the Bahamas Bar in
October 1974. Mr. Knowles is a member of the Honorable Society
of Gray’s Inn and the Bahamas Bar Association.
Mr. Knowles has been
one of the Senior Partners at Alexiou, Knowles & Co. since
January 2000, and is the lead litigation Attorney in the Firm’s
Litigation Department. His practice includes, Commercial Litigation,
Personal and Corporate Insolvency, Admiralty, Professional
Negligence and other Torts, Contract and Trust Litigation.
Mr. Knowles has appeared
as legal counsel in numerous complex cases, many of which
involved an international element. He has acted as Advisor
to several Official Liquidators appointed by the Court in
The Bahamas to wind-up companies.
Mr. Knowles has made
contributions to several International Corporations most recently,
the Americas Restructuring and Insolvency Guide 2008, and
is a Director of numerous private corporations.
