| Mr. Allan T. Benjamin joined the firm of Alexiou, Knowles & Co. in 2009. Before joining Alexiou, Knowles & Co, Mr. Benjamin worked at the Bahamas Maritime Authority in London England where he was attached to the ship registration department. Mr. Benjamin also worked for a leading commercial bank where he was primarily responsible for debt collections.
Mr. Benjamin’s practice areas primarily include Civil and Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, Family Law, Real Estate Transactions, Mergers and Acquisitions, Banking, Debt Collections, Foreclosures and Admiralty and Maritime Law.
Some of his recent work includes:
- Assisting a Leading Insurer with Complying and Implementing standards in accordance with the revised Insurance act.
- Assisting with the merger of two leading offshore financial institutions.
- Assisting with the arrest and sale of cargo vessels.
- Opining on Bahamian law with respect to the validity of mortgages executed over Bahamian registered vessels.
- Acting for a leading Commercial Institution in obtaining various forclosure orders.
Education
Mr Benjamin holds a BA (Hons.) in both Criminal Justice and Legal Studies from the University of West Florida and went on to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, London England. Mr. Benjamin completed the Bar Vocational Course at the College of Law London, England and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in October 2008. He was subsequently admitted to the Bahamas Bar in December of the same year.
Mr. Benjamin is a member of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and the Bahamas Bar Association. He became an Associate at Alexiou, Knowles & Co. following successful completion of his pupilage. |
